There we see how the center line of structure splits into pairs of columns at the wide middle bay, and how the second pair is pushed to one side by the elevator core. Note how, by reflecting a column, the lobby mirror recreates the illusion of the center pair and so, from the start, informs the visitor of the total order. The walls, as they move along the displaced columns toward the center of the lobby, convey a sensual force in opposition to the controlled rationality of the imaginary center line.

The curved garden path passing under the house to the backyard makes the lower-left-hand quadrant the realm of the pedestrian. The visual diagonals then connect the upper quadrants to this set of relationships. Peter Eisenman has observed that Le Corbusier established a radically modern relation between viewer and building in which all viewpoints are presented to the viewer simultaneously.
