The magazine had a successful nine-year run and ended publication in 1925, but by then Anthony Overton had already moved on to new ideas. In 1926, he started a newspaper, the Chicago Bee, which became popular on Chicago’s South Side. The Chicago Bee even coined a nickname for a Chicago neighborhood—“Bronzeville”—which was the area near the South Side where African Americans lived.

Walker Manufacturing Company is a museum in Indianapolis. In her will, she left the business to her daughter, as well as $100,000 to build a school for girls in West Africa.
